French President Emmanuel Macron met with the influential Armenian circles in Marseille during his visit, reports ARFD.
At the meeting, French MP Sabrina Agresti-Roubache added to Macron saying, that in the conditions of the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and the latter’s attack, a more effective and practical initiative, and not only a moral one, is expected from him.
Macron replied that he is putting pressure on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Macron said, “I put more pressure on Aliyev than Pashinyan does. The issue is Pashinyan. I am the only one with a clear position and message on the Karabakh issue.”
Macron added that they should not doubt his determination on the issue of Karabakh and Armenia.
“I will continue my efforts—even if I am the only one in the international family with this agenda,” said the French President.
Macron added that France had sent a military attaché to its embassy in Armenia for the first time. “We have to do everything in our power, as much as possible,” Macron concluded.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded to Macron, saying, “The statements of Macron once again show that he’s a tool for the Armenian lobby in France. The representative of the Armenian community, to whom he tried to give explanations, is one of those radicals against whom Armenia imposed a ban on entry into the country.”
