Johana Riva Garabetian represents Uruguay during a 'National Costume' segment at the Miss Universe 2014 beauty pageant.
Born in Montevideo, she grew up with her mother and grandparents. She competed in her first competition at the age of 16. At 19, she decided to move to Lima, Peru, where she worked towards her goal of modeling for catalogues, commercials and fashion shows for big designer brands.
Miss Universe 2014 contestants from around the world showed off their country’s traditional garments at the National Costume show on Jan. 21 in Miami, Florida.
The beauty pageant organizers revealed the top five contestant, who are Miss Universe Argentina Valentina Ferrer, Miss Universe Canada Chanel Beckenlehner, Miss Universe Germany Josefin Donat, Miss Universe India Noyonita Lodh, and Miss Universe Indonesia Elvira Devinamira.
The contestant with the highest number of votes will be the National Costume Fan Vote Winner, which will be announced during the 63rd Miss Universe pageant finale.
The Miss Universe 2014 finals will be held at the Florida International University Arena, in Miami, on Sunday, Jan. 25, where the next Miss Universe will be crowned. After reigning for more than a year, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler will crown her successor.
