Galstaun College students in pink for fundraiser

SYDNEY: To coincide with International Women’s Day, students at Galstaun College have been busy raising funds to support the McGrath Foundation.

Boys and girls from the 4-year-olds in Reception to the 18-year-olds in Year 12 put aside their school uniforms to wear pink for the day and paid handsomely for doing so. Senior students prepared a special morning tea of bacon and egg rolls to warm supporters in the unseasonably cold weather.

Breast cancer research and victim support have been a special cause for the students at Galstaun College ever since a long standing and much loved teacher was diagnosed with the disease late in 2009. Students supported the teacher through her chemotherapy program and celebrated with her as she returned to full health.

The team of senior girls who are organising the fundraisers have another event planned for ladies in the Armenian Community later in the year.

Local newspaper The Manly Daily covered the school's fundraising efforts, and you can view by clicking here.
