CANBERRA: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has announced the commencement of applications for the second iteration of the ANC-AU Junior Advocates Program, scheduled to take place in Canberra on August 11th and 12th, 2024.

This unique initiative, established in 2023, aims to inspire Armenian-Australian Year 11 students to explore careers in politics and related fields through immersive experiences in Canberra, Australia's capital.

The ANC-AU Junior Advocates Program offers participants an exclusive opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops and mock exercises, providing insights into the workings of the Australian Federal Parliament.

Participants will embark on a two-day journey alongside fellow students, supervised by ANC-AU National Office and Board members, as well as the staff at Galstaun College. Highlights of the program include job shadowing sessions with parliamentary staffers, first-hand accounts from elected representatives, and the chance to witness Parliamentary Question Time.

In addition, participants will also take part in 'My Voice, My Choice', where they will deliver a 90-second Private Member's Statement on a topic of personal importance in the Old Parliament House chambers. This exercise aims to cultivate public speaking skills and encourage thoughtful engagement with issues affecting our communities.

"Are you considering a career in the hallways of power in our nation's capital as an Adviser, Chief of Staff, Journalist or Elected Representative? Then this program is for you, designed to give aspiring young leaders a taste of life and work in federal politics, helping them make informed decisions about their future paths." said, Danielle Der Bedrossian, Administrative Assistant at the ANC-AU.

"We are excited to build on the success of our inaugural program," said Executive Director of the ANC-AU Michael Kolokossian.

"The ANC-AU Junior Advocates Program is more than just an educational opportunity; it's a chance for students to gain practical insights and forge connections that can shape their future careers."

Interested students are encouraged to apply early by clicking here, as the program is limited to 15 participants.

A participation fee of $200 will cover all program expenses, including meals, travel, and accommodation over the two-day period.
