SYDNEY: Renowned singer Adiss Harmandian helped Sydney celebrate the first Armenian Republic at a Dinner Dance held at The Bellevue in Bankstown on Saturday, 11 June.

The event, organised by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Australia (ARF Australia) Tro Committee, marked the 'May 28 Independence' of 1918 and attracted over 350 community guests.

ARF Australia Tro Committee member, Kevork Vartanian delivered the official address, linking the struggles of Sartarabad, Karakilise and Pash Aparan to those faced by Armenians today, in Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh, Javakhk and the Diaspora. Vartanian stated that Armenians must be as vigilant as the heroes of 1918 to maintain land, culture and identity.

Harmandian, invited from the United States of America for this event, entertained the gathered as he knows best until the early hours of Sunday morning, finishing with a selection of patriotic songs.
