SYDNEY: Hamazkaine Hagop Baronian Theatre Group is proud to bring to Sydney audiences a comedy play in Armenian called ‘Verchin Tadasdane’ (Judgement Day).

‘Verchin Tadasdane’ is about a wealthy widow, who has three sons-in-law with greedy motives. When a more cunning man enters the scene as the widow’s suitor, jeopardising their chances of inheriting wealth, the men try to outsmart one another, bringing on shocking events that unfold to reach an enlightened conclusion.

The play is by Sydney writer and director Garo Khatchigian, and features a cast of young and talented amateur actors from the Armenian community in Sydney.

2014 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Hamazkaine Hagop Baronian Theatre Group. Founded in May 1964 by Mr Noubar Khatchadourian, who also served as its Director for many years, the Hagop Baronian Theatre Group has built an excellent reputation through the comedy plays it has performed to Armenian audiences in Australia.

During this Golden Jubilee year, the Hagop Baronian Theatre Group is presenting the play "Verchin Tadasdaneh” (Judgement Day). Garo Khachigian, the play’s author and director has also been the spearhead of many successful plays in the group’s past 15 years.

His last play was "Mer Vijage", which played to large audiences with great success.

‘Verchin Tadasdane’ will be performed on Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th at Glen Street Theatre Belrose.
